DiDate (“the app”) is published by KIX Software (“we”, “us”). This document explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.
DiDate is a dating app. It is available only to people aged 18 and over.
1. Data you give us
Phone number. Used to create and sign in to your account. We send a one-time code by SMS to confirm the number belongs to you. Your phone number is never shown to other users.
Profile details. Display name, date of birth, gender, who you are interested in, and anything else you choose to add: a short bio, job title, school, home town, current city, height, weight, body type, education, income range, marital status, smoking and drinking habits, plans about children, and your interests.
Photos. Up to six photos that you upload. They are shown to other users as part of your profile.
Messages. The content of messages you send to people you have matched with. Messages are stored on our servers so they can be delivered and so you can read them again later.
Your date of birth is used to calculate and display your age, and to enforce the minimum age of 18. Your gender and who you are interested in are used to decide whose profiles you see and who sees yours. Under some privacy laws this counts as sensitive personal data, and we treat it accordingly.
2. Data collected automatically
Location. With your permission, the app reads your device location and stores it as approximate coordinates. It is used to work out how far away other people are. Other users are shown a distance, never your coordinates and never your address.
IP address. When the app starts, your IP address is used to work out which country you are in, so the app can pick a sensible language and phone dialling code. To do this, the IP address is sent to a third-party lookup service. We do not store your IP address after the country has been determined.
Notification token. If you allow notifications, your device is given a token so we can tell you about new matches and messages. It identifies the device, not you personally.
3. Data we do NOT collect
We do not collect your contacts or address book. We do not collect your email address. The app contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics SDKs. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not sell your data or share it with data brokers or advertisers.
4. Who can see your data
Other users see your photos, display name, age, distance from them, and the profile details you filled in. They cannot see your phone number, your exact location, or your date of birth.
People you have not matched with cannot read your messages.
We share data with third parties only in two cases: the country lookup described above, and where the law requires us to.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your profile, photos and messages for as long as your account exists. Sign-in codes are deleted a few minutes after they are issued.
6. Your rights
You can edit or delete any part of your profile, including individual photos, at any time from inside the app.
To delete your entire account and all data attached to it — profile, photos, matches and messages — write to us at the address below. We will complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm when it is done. You can also ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
7. Safety and moderation
You can report any profile or conversation, and you can block any user. Blocking is immediate and mutual: neither of you will see the other again. Reports are reviewed and accounts that break our rules are suspended or removed. See the Terms of Service for what is not allowed.
8. Security
Data is sent between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Access to the servers is restricted to the people who need it to operate the service.
9. Children
DiDate is not intended for anyone under 18. We ask for a date of birth when you sign up and refuse accounts below that age. If you believe someone under 18 is using the app, please report the profile or contact us and we will remove the account.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced inside the app.
